PM Modi led Govt confiscated Rs 1.25 lakh cr black money | | | Agencies
NEW DELHI, Dec 12: Black money to the tune of “Rs 1.25 lakh crore” has been confiscated by the Modi government, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Monday and asserted transparency is a key aspect of the present dispensation’s good governance model.
The minister for railways said similarly, to ensure transparency, benami properties worth Rs 4,300 crore were attached and registration of 1.75 lakh companies cancelled.Talking to reporters at the Rail Bhawan, Vaishnaw said in his long public service, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has “perfected a model of good governance that started in Gujarat”. This is being now implemented at the national level, he said.
Modi before becoming prime minister in 2014 was the chief minister of Gujarat.
“This model of good governance, basically, keeps the common citizen at the centre of everything, and transparency as its key aspect,” Vaishnaw, who also holds the electronics and information technology, and communications portfolios, said.

Arunachal, Dec 12: Indian and Chinese soldiers clashed at a location along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9, resulting in minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides, military sources said on Monday.
They said the Indian troops resolutely confronted the Chinese PLA soldiers.
“On December 9, PLA troops contacted the LAC in Tawang Sector which was contested by our troops in a firm and resolute manner. This face-off led to minor injuries to few personnel from both sides,” said a source.

New Delhi, Dec 12: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said GST claims of state governments will be cleared once she gets relevant papers along with a certificate from their respective accountant generals.
She also said in Lok Sabha that the central government is committed to pay all Goods and Services Tax (GST) compensation to states and has been doing so continuously for the last five years.
The respective Accountant General (AG) has to provide a certificate that the particular state has to get this much of compensation, the finance minister said.

Srinagar, Dec 12: The Srinagar-Ladakh and the Mughal road were thrown open for traffic on Monday evening after remaining closed for four days due to snowfall, officials said. One way traffic on the historical Mughal road, connecting Shopian district in south Kashmir to Poonch and Rajouri district of Jammu, was restored this evening, a traffic official said.
