Reservation debate turns legal: Panel head silent on report deadline | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 12: Two days after the Omar Abdullah Government formally constituted a Cabinet Sub-Committee to review the reservation in the Union Territory, the head of the panel said that the matter is a sub-judice so it is better not to give any statement on the same.
Replying to a question regarding the time frame for submitting the report on reservations, Cabinet Minister Sakina Masood Ittoo said, “I think the matter is subjudice so I can not any anything on this issue.”.
Sakina Masood Ittoo is heading the three-member cabinet Sub-Committee constituted by Omar Abdullah government on December 10.
“Reservation is very sensitive issue. A cabinet sub-committee has been constituted on this issue. According to my information, this matter has become subjudice.
It is not advisable to speak on any matter which is in the court”, the panel’s chairperson said while seeking to downplay the issue.

Retail inflation slowed to 5.48 per cent in November compared to 6.21 pc in October, mainly due to easing food prices, especially vegetables, according to government data released on Thursday.
According to Consumer Price Index (CPI) data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO), the inflation in the food basked reduced to 9.04 per cent in November. It was 10.87 per cent in October and 8.70 per cent in November 2023.

Rajouri/Jammu, Dec 12: A seven-year-old girl died and her two elder brothers fell sick due to a suspected case of food poisoning in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Thursday, officials said.
