From Kashmir to Kishtwar, PDP-NC lock horns in DDC elections | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: The National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party candidates are contesting elections against each other in Kishtwar, mocking at the claims of the unity of twin parties in the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration.
Sources said the two of the prominent faces of the PDP and NC in Kishtwar are contesting the ongoing District Development Council elections against each other. Sources said both the leaders didn’t listen to the party whip on who should contest the DDC elections.
“A lot of efforts were made by the respective parties to convince their leaders not to contest against each other but that none of them listened and in fact actually threatened of a rebellion if they were forced on any such issue,” the sources said.
It is second such major embarrassment for the PDP and NC in the going DDC elections. Previously candidates of the two parties contested from Rawal Pora area in the summer capital of Srinagar. Sources said both the parties are helpless as their candidates are “unwilling to listen to the party high commands”.
