No holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday Govt humiliates Jammu again | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: Despite knowing that the emotions of the people of the Jammu region are attached by the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided against declaring September 23, the birth anniversary of the last Dogra ruler.
The BJP and Jammu-based parties, bar association, traders, and civil society groups had asked the government to declare a public holiday on the birthday of the late Maharaja Hari Singh.
The Upper House of Jammu and Kashmir Legislature had also passed a private member’s resolution in absence of opposition seeking a holiday on the birthday of the last ruler of J&K, Maharaja Hari Singh.
The resolution was moved in Legislative Council by the grandson of ex-Maharaja and BJP legislator Ajatshatru Singh.
After passing of the resolution by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), various social groups have stepped up pressure on the BJP to declare a holiday on September 23rd-birthday of the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh.

Jammu, Dec 16: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday approved the establishment of two medi-cities-one each in Kashmir and the Jammu division.
A decision in this regard was taken in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council (AC) meeting held under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Interestingly two medi-cities were earlier also approved by the State Administrative Council (SAC). Srinagar, Dec 16: Two local militants of "The Resistance Front"(TRF) of the Laskhar-e-Toiba were killed in an overnight encounter in South Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said here on Thursday. The gunfight erupted at Redwani Bala late on Wednesday when joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

SRINAGAR, Dec 16: The Government today informed that 133 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 31 from Jammu division and 102 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 339404.Also, 05 COVID deaths have been reported; 01 from Jammu Division and 04 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 139 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 19from Jammu Division and 120 from Kashmir Division.

New Delhi, Dec 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday lay the foundation stone of the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur, his office said today.
The 594-km long six-lane expressway will be built at a cost of over ₹ 36,200 crore, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.
The foundation stone will be laid at around 1 pm on December 18 in UP's Shahjahanpur.
The inspiration behind the expressway is the vision of the Prime Minister to provide fast-paced connectivity across the country, the PM's Office said.
