Time for 2 senior PDP, NC leaders to fulfill promise by joining BJP | ST status to Pahari tribe | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: As the BJP-led Union Government at the Centre has granted Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari tribe of Jammu and Kashmir, it is time for the two senior leaders of the National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to fulfill their promise by joining the BJP.
During their meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on October 4, 2022, two prominent leaders of PDP and National Conference namely Tazeem Dar and Shafqat Mir respectively had promised to join BJP if ST status is granted to Pahari.
PDP district president Rajouri Tazeem Dar and senior National Conference leader Shafqat Mir had given the assurance to Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a meeting at Jammu.
The two leaders were part of a Pahari community delegation that called on the Home Minister shortly after his arrival on a three-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir in October 2022.

JAMMU, Dec 16: Eight old mortar shells were found during excavation in a field in the border areas of Jammu district on Saturday, officials said.
The rusted 83 mm shells were dug out carefully after locals brought the matter to the police in Pallanwala border area of Akhnoor sector, they said.

POONCH, Dec 16: Mughal road, connecting Kashmir Valley’s Shopian district with twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, was closed due to fresh snowfall on Saturday, officials said.
They said that there was fresh snowfall at several places along the road including ‘Pir Ki Gali’, leading to the closure of the thoroughfare.
DySP PC Surankote Hamid Ali Bandey confirmed the closure of the road.
