Jammu, Dec 19: Amid nail-biting cold in the entire region, the power supply in most parts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been snapped as over 20,000 power employees have gone on an indefinite strike in support of their four demands.
In Jammu province power supply has been snapped in Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, and Poonch districts. Most parts of Jammu districts are also without power amid severe cold.
J&K Power Employees Coordination Committee convenor Sachin Tickoo said that employees are agitating for their four demands, including shelving a proposed joint venture between the Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited and the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, regularisation of daily wagers, empowering executive engineers.

Kishtwar, Dec 19: The electricity crises in power generation hub, Chenab Valley, has worsened due to the continuous strike of Power Development Department employees.
The striking employees are demanding that the decision to create a joint venture by merging it with Power Grid of India should be rolled back.

Jammu, Dec 19: As talks with the agitating power employees failed, the administration has called the Army to restore power supply in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu, Dec 19: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday claimed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has worsened after the abrogation of Article 370 and called on the people of the union territory to stand up for their “snatched” rights.
