Jammu, Dec 21: With the Lok Sabha elections looming on the horizon, the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir has been marked by intense negotiations and strategic moves among various parties.
The National Conference (NC), a key partner of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, has stirred the political cauldron by asserting its firm resolve to contest all Lok Sabha seats from Kashmir, showing reluctance to share any constituency with either the Congress or the PDP.

Poonch/Jammu, Dec 21: Four soldiers were martyred and three injured when heavily armed terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.
The bodies of two of the slain soldiers were mutilated, the officials said.

New Delhi, Dec 21: There is no plan so far to make RT-PCR testing for COVID-19 mandatory at airports for travellers, Union health ministry sources said on Thursday, amid an uptick in coronavirus infections in India.
Even though the number of cases is rising and the JN.1 sub-variant has been detected in the country, there is no cause of immediate concern as 92 per cent of those infected are opting for home-based treatment, indicating mild illness, they said.
There is also no increase in hospitalisation rates and COVID-19 is an incidental finding in people hospitalised due to other medical conditions.
In the last two weeks, 22 people have died due to COVID-19 in the country.

JAMMU, Dec 21: Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department Thursday announced winter vacations for all degree college of Jammu and Kashmir Division in a phased manner from December-27-2023 to February-14-2024 in Kashmir division.

Srinagar, Dec 21: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday trapped and arrested Assistant Engineer of BDO office Surasyar Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district for demanding and accepting bribe.

A company, operating under the name “Curative Survey Private Limited” is accused of deceiving thousands of depositors and duping them of at least Rs 59 crore after promising to double their investment in 15 days. The company officials have disappeared after the multi-crore scam surfaced.
