POONCH/JAMMU, Dec 22: Security forces Friday launched a massive cordon and search operation in the forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district and a National Investigation Agency team also visited there, a day after five army personnel were martyred and two others injured in a terrorist attack.

Kanpur (UP), Dec 22: Family members and villagers are mourning the loss of 29-year-old Karan Yadav who lost his life in the Poonch terror attack on Thursday. He is survived by his wife and two children. Daughter Arya is 6 years old and son Ayush is just 1 year old.
Karan Kumar Yadav, a resident of Bhaupur in the Chaubepur suburb of Kanpur had joined the Army as a driver in 2013. He was posted in Rajouri. The family was informed about this heart-wrenching news late on Thursday night.

Jammu, Dec 22: Apart from seeking feedback from workers of various offshoots of the Sangh Parivar before finalizing mandates of party candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, BJP will review report cards of all its sitting Lok Sabha members before finalizing their tickets.

Srinagar, Dec 22: Top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Jammu and Kashmir have been summoned to New Delhi for 2-day crucial meeting, which commenced on Friday.
Sources told Early Times the primary agenda of the meeting is to deliberate on a strategic plan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “Discussions will focus on BJP’s preparation for Assembly elections in J&K in accordance with the directives issued by the Supreme Court earlier this month.”

New Delhi, Dec 22: Twenty-two cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 have been detected in the country till Thursday, with 21 cases being reported from Goa and another from Kerala, official sources said.
In Goa, the sources told Press Trust of India, no clustering of cases of the JN.1 variant has been seen and all infected people have recovered without complications.
Those infected had mild upper respiratory tract infection with symptoms of mild dry cough, sore throat with or without fever, sources said.
