LG Sinha says JK will be militancy free in 2-yrs, former Army Chief rebuffs claim | Contradiction | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 23: Recently Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha claimed that there will be no militancy in Kashmir after two years, but the former Army Chief Gen (retd) N C Vij has contradicted LG’s statement by stating that it will take eight to ten years for militancy to end in Kashmir.
While addressing a gathering in Jammu recently, LG Sinha said, “Let me assure you that there will be no militancy in Jammu and Kashmir after two years. The Government of India is working in this direction.”
“Some elements are trying to keep the militancy alive but I assure you all that there will be no militancy in JK after two years,” he added.
Meanwhile, former Army chief Gen (retd) N C Vij in his book “The Kashmir Conundrum: The Quest for Peace in a Troubled Land” in which he has tried to give a complete picture has written: ”Militancy in the region is not likely to disappear in a hurry. In an interview to wire Dr Farooq said, “Open any newspaper you will find Lieutenant Governor on every page, Deputy Commissioners, Police General. No true news is found anywhere.”

Jammu, Dec 23: As selective killings of Jammu and Kashmir Police Personnel have become a routine affair in Kashmir Valley during the last nearly one year, the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken serious note of the casual approach being adopted in dealing with terrorism.
