JAMMU, Dec 26: Amid the reports about mounting mismanagement being witnessed in Kashmir University, the government is likely to probe the financial irregularities reported at the varsity 10 years ago during the purchase of land for the new campuses.
As per the official documents, the Kashmir University purchased 300 kanals land for its campus at Zakura Srinagar against the whopping cost of 20 lakh rupees per kanal in the year 2009 while as the actual rate of the land as per the revenue records was 4 lakh per kanal.
CAG found out that the University of Kashmir identified the land measuring 300 kanals at Zakura Srinagar- located in the vicinity of the main university campus. The measure was taken for expanding varsity’s future growth programme. MOU was later executed between KU and JK Bank which was the attorney holder of the 300 kanals of land. The owners of the land had had reportedly authorized the JK bank to sell their land to the University of Kashmir in a bid to adjust their loan accounts. Jammu, Dec 26: Amid intelligence inputs that terror groups may use vehicles with fake registration number plates in Jammu, a security alert has been sounded across the winter capital.
Sources said the intelligence agencies have got credible inputs that terror groups may use fake number plates for travel or transportation of their logistics including arms and ammunitions.
Sources said the security grid has been beefed in the wake of two incidents of use of fake number plates in Jammu having come to fore.
