Non-tribals get jobs on fake ST certificates | | |

Jammu, Dec 27: After release of selection lists of some posts advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB), social media is flooded with complaints that some non-tribals have managed to get jobs on fake Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates.
Amid allegations that some non-tribals have managed to get jobs on fake certificates, the demand for reverifying all ST certificates issued by the government gained momentum to single out those who managed to get these certificates through fraudulent means.
Sources said that fake ST certificate was a big issue as some non-tribals have managed to get these certificates.
Important to mention here that on the direction of the Supreme Court, a committee was constituted to verify ST certificates issued to different tribes but recommendations of the panel were not implemented so far.
Many ST leaders have already asked the J&K administration to verify the documents of all employees recruited under the ST category.

| | COVID-19: Delhi reports first case of JN.1 | | | NEW DELHI, Dec 27: Delhi has reported its first case of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1, officials said on Wednesday.
Delhi has more than 35 active cases with nine fresh infections being reported on Wednesday, an official said, adding that a 28-year-old man, who had comorbidities, died, with Covid not being the primary reason.
“The man was not from Delhi and was referred to a private hospital recently. He had multiple comorbidities and the Covid finding was incidental. The sample of the man has been sent for genome sequencing and a report is awaited,” he added.
The official said multiple samples were sent for genome sequencing, and one of them tested positive for the JN.1 variant.

JAMMU, Dec 27: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday assured justice to the families of three civilians who were found dead last week after being allegedly picked up by the Army following an ambush on two of Army vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
