Jammu, Dec 29: It is official now, the power generation schemes in Jammu and Kashmir have taken a back seat with centrally sponsored schemes worth crores of rupees neglected, forgotten and ruthlessly undermined by the helmsmen of the past.
After the failure of Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) which was announced to reduce aggregate technical and commercial losses in power distribution and management across state utilities, another centrally sponsored scheme namely Deen Dayal Upadhaya Grameen Joyti Yojna (DDUGJY) is on the brink of dead end due to no work executed on ground on this scheme.
DDUGJY was otherwise meant to provide continuous power supply to rural areas of the erstwhile state. The scheme was ought to enable to initiate much awaited reforms in the rural areas. It was set to focus on feeder separation (rural households & agricultural) and strengthening of sub-transmission & distribution infrastructure including metering at all levels in rural areas. JAMMU, Dec 29: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) may not find it easy to make a comeback in Jammu due to the failure of its regional leadership to convince the centre to address the sentimental issues.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that most of the people in Jammu region had expected that this time around the government won't ignore their long pending demand of declaring a holiday on the birth anniversary of the last Dogra ruler of Jammu & Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh. Jammu, Dec 29: Unscheduled visit of BJP's point-man in J&K Ram Madhav's visit to Jammu and Srinagar has raised many eye-brows because he visited both the capital cities without informing local party leaders. Ram Madhav reached Srinagar on Thursday and arrived at Jammu on Friday.
Credible sources said that none of the BJP leaders were aware of the visit of Ram Madhav and all of them surprised when they got information about his visit. "It appears that there is no communication with local unit of BJP with high command", sources said.

ANANTNAG, Dec 28: In an unprecedented development, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has started curtailing ration supply under Mufti Mohmmad Sayed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES).
A group of consumers told Early Times that Ration storekeepers across the Kashmir have stopped providing promised quantity of ration to them on the pretext that they weren’t receiving the required quantity.
“From past three months the storekeepers are distributing only 7 kgs of rice per person instead of 10Kgs of rice under NFSA and MMSFES Scheme,” Anantnag residents told ET.
