Jammu, Dec 4: An Additional Secretary in Civil Secretariat who was appointed as orderly and having matriculation as qualification has been making hard efforts to become Special Secretary as he has sent the proposal file in this connection to Lieutenant Governor Office.
Sources said that the LG Office has expressed astonishment at the proposal file of the official seeking his elevation to Special Secretary despite having matriculation as qualification and questioned that how an orderly managed to get gazetted post and now eyeing the post of Special Secretary which is equivalent to an IAS officer.
“The official was appointed as an orderly in 1980-81 under recruitment rules 1959 which were made by Sardar-e-Riyasat and not changed till 31 Oct, 2019. He managed to get gazzeted post and reaches to the post of Additional Secretary due to his influence in the power corridors in previous governments,” they said.

Srinagar: Even as the government recently allowed a detained leader of the Peoples Democratic Party to visit his home for a day in Srinagar, his party colleague and inmate, who is also lodged at the same sub-jail was denied permission to meet his bereaved family.
Sources said very recently the government allowed a senior PDP leader who was previously a lawmaker to visit his home to spend some time with his family.

NEW DELHI:The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave its formal nod to withdraw a Bill, which sought to provide reservation to economically backward people of Jammu and Kashmir, as the state reorganisation law provided for a similar quota.
Union minister Prakash Javadekar said here that the Cabinet gave its nod to withdraw the Bill formally as the draft law had become irrelevant.
The government had recently withdrawn the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Second Amendment) Bill 2019 from Lok Sabha.

Srinagar, Dec 4: Four army soldiers were killed in a separate incident after being hit by an avalanche in two separate areas in Tanghdar sector and in Gurez sector, army said. In last three weeks, three incidents have taken place where 10 army personnel and two civilian porters were killed.
