BJP starts preparations for assembly polls after passing of crucial bills in Lok Sabha | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 6: Notwithstanding confusing statements being given by the opposition parties, BJP started preparations for maiden assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after passing of two crucial bills in the Lok Sabha.
Highly placed sources said that passing of the these bills BJP will try to reap political benefits as Pahari speaking people and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) would be beneficial of these two bills.
“Central leadership of the party has already indicated that after passing of crucial bills related to Jammu and Kashmir, assembly elections will be held in the Union Territory”, a senior BJP leader told The Early Times.
On the condition of anonymity, the BJP leader said that after over three decades of struggle the Pahari speaking people have been granted Scheduled Tribe status and party is hopeful to get overwhelming support of this community in the coming elections.

Centre remains non-committal on granting statehood to Ladakh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 6: Even as the meeting of agitating groups of Ladakh with the Higher Powered Committee of the Union Government was held in cordial atmosphere to carry forward the dialogue process, the Centre is unlikely to grant to statehood to the Ladakh region.
Some of the groups are demanding statehood to Ladakh but majority of the people of the Leh district are not interested in agitating for getting statehood.
Highly placed sources said that during the meeting, held on December 4 at New Delhi, the Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai has not made any commitment to grant statehood to Ladakh.

Jammu, Dec 6: Continuing with its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the police personnel, the Director General of Police, J&K R.R. Swain has sanctioned over Rupees 1.65 crore welfare loan/relief in favour of 110 serving police personnel vide PHQ, J&K Order No. 3418 of 2023.
Under this order, welfare loan of Rupees 88 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 47 police personnel to meet the expenses of self-treatment or treatment of their dependents.

Jammu, Dec 6: Police on Wednesday conducted a massive sanitization operation inside a private school here after the institute received a bomb threat via a phone call, officials said.
No suspicious object was found on the school premises at Residency Road in the heart of the city and the purported threat turned out to be a hoax, the officials said.
“The Jammu Police acted swiftly on bomb threat by an unidentified caller to a private school.

Jammu, Dec 6: Security forces on Wednesday recovered arms and ammunition during a search operation in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police sources said that acting on tip off, a joint search operation was launched by Special Operation Group, Police and Army in the village Bahrote of Rajouri.

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar said Srinagar recorded the season's coldest night on Wednesday, with temperatures plummeting to -2.0C against -1.4C recorded the previous night, and it was 1.1C below normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
