Kashmir centric parties join hands to keep Jammu, Ladakh at bay | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 8: Kashmir centric parties after losing power have started showing their true colours, both National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party are demanding that Jammu and Kashmir should be divided on communal lines.
PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has demanded divisional autonomy for Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and other districts which fall beyond Jawahar tunnel.
On the other hand National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has said that if his party is voted to power, it will grant autonomy to various regions of the state.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Both these parties want to hijack the regions where the population of the members of a particular community is on the higher side and want to leave Jammu and Ladakh regions out. This is a sinister plan aimed at pitting one community against another. Both these parties are trying to divide the people on religious lines to secure more votes in the forthcoming Assembly and Parliament elections."

Jammu, Dec 8: Virtually toeing line of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, Congress also indirectly opposed granting divisional status to Ladakh region.
Instead of supporting the move to fulfill long pending demands of the residents of whole Ladakh region including Leh and Kargil, Congress is playing politics on this highly sensitive issue to address its constituency in Kashmir at the cost of other regions of the State.

Srinagar, Dec 8: The intelligence agencies here said that they have kept a close eye on the youth across Kashmir who seem to have come under some influence to join militancy and every effort is put in to keep them away from the gun.
Sources told early times that last week of late six youth were brought back to "mainstream" in Srinagar who were undergoing "proper counselling" while there has been no recruitment of local boys into any militant ranks since October this year.
