Ex-NC MLA likely to face action for renting out community land to armed forces

Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 31: District administration Anantnag has written a letter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau Srinagar for taking appropriate action against former National Conference MLA from Pahalgam for collecting rent from a piece of encroached community land. District Administration Anantnag has exposed another scam where senior National Conference leader and former MLA from Pahalgam assembly constituency Altaf Kaloo was collecting rent on encroached land. After establishing that the NC leader was collecting rent from the Defence Estates Department, District Administration Anantnag initiated action against MLA and his close relatives for encroachment on Shamilat land. Reports said that a patch of Shamilat land in excess of 100 kanals at Defence Estates Jammu in Aishmuqam has been delineated as “proprietary land” by tampering with revenue records. The former legislator has been receiving rent on this piece of land while factually the said land is section 4 Shamilat land and belongs to the community. Weather improves, air and train services resume in Kashmir

Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 31: Air operations resumed from Kashmir on Tuesday as weather conditions improved, officials said. The flight operation at Srinagar International Airport had remained suspended for the day on Monday due to major snowfall. However, Srinagar-Jammu National highway remained closed for the second consecutive day on Tuesday due to shooting of stones and mudslides at various places. Traffic partially restored on Srinagar-Jammu highway

Early Times Report Ramban, Jan 31: The traffic movement on Srinagar-Jammu national highway resumed partially, which was suspended on Monday due to landslides, shooting stones and snowfall, officials said here on Tuesday. An official said that however, no new traffic was allowed on the highway. He said stranded vehicles were being allowed to move after road was cleared. “Our men and machinery were on the job day and night to restore the traffic”, he said. “NH through for traffic.
