Srinagar gets Women’s Safety Squads, Jammu can wait! | | |

Jammu, Feb 15: In wake of spike in crime against women in Jammu and Kashmir, the Srinagar Police on Monday launched Women's Safety Squads but the winter capital which “bears of the brunt of such complaints” is yet to get such specialized squads, essentially for the safety of the Dogra women.
On February 14, the Srinagar district police launched two women's safety squads for ensuring safety and security of women in Srinagar city.
The DIG Central Kashmir range Sujit Kumar who flagged off the special squads hoped that the initiative would bring down crime against women and prevent crimes like the recent acid attack by acting as deterrent.
Officials said initially two squads have been launched to patrol areas around coaching centres, schools, colleges and other vulnerable areas in Srinagar city.
