Srinagar, Feb 15: A purported audio of a corporator at Srinagar Municipal Corporation has gone viral wherein she is heard allegedly demanding Nazrana from a broker for release of money for residents of Srinagar out of a centrally-sponsored scheme.
The audio conversation in Kashmiri between the corporator and the broker, which was per the SMC corporators is over a year old, has surfaced on the social media and gone viral.
Sources said for all these months the audio was “swept under the carpet” as she has been close to some influential coterie of corporators nicknamed “Tara, Sitara & Company”.
The corporator, who is allegedly from near Dal Lake neighborhood was demanding “fifty percent commission” from the broker for getting government scheme money transferred into bank accounts of common people out of the centrally sponsored scheme for developmental activities on civic front.

Raipur convention: Whom to send, J&K Cong leaders confused | | |

Jammu, Feb 15: Just nine days left for the national convention of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) at Raipur-the capital city of the Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh state but Jammu and Kashmir Congress has failed to finalize the names of participants.
Highly placed sources said that there is complete chaos and confusion in J&K Congress over participation in the AICC convention because those at the helm of the affairs have yet not announced the names of those who are eligible to attend the convention.
“Instead of disclosing names of those who will attend the convention, Congress leadership is rather trying to create confusion”, sources said.

New Delhi, Feb 15: In a significant announcement, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said the government will spend 75 per cent of the total defence capital outlay for procurement from domestic defence manufacturers from 2023-24.
The decision will mean setting aside of around Rs 100,000 crore for procurement of military platforms and equipment from the Indian manufacturers, he said.

The Meteorological department forecast partly cloudy but dry weather to continue in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 2 hours and there would be no large change in weather during the next two day.

JAMMU, Feb 15: Several landmines exploded following a forest fire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Wednesday, officials said. The fire started in the forest area across the border and spread to the Balakot sector of Mendhar subdivision on the Indian side. The fire also prompted a security alert, they said.
At least half-a-dozen landmines, part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, got activated due to the fire but there was no report of any damage.
Efforts were on to control the fire when the last reports came in, the officials said.
