AKHNOOR, Feb 18: Mahashivratri was today celebrated with religious fervour across Akhnoor with thousands of devotees visiting various temples to offer special prayers. Devotees in thousands from different parts of Jammu visited historic Kameshwar temple Akhnoor, Shiv Temple Gosan, Shiv Temple Jia Potta and Shiv Temple Balle Da Bagh to pay obeisance and offering special prayers.
Elaborate arrangements were made by the temple management committees for the smooth darshan of Shiva lingam by the devotees. Drinking water, free food, medicare facilities for the devotees were also put in place by the management.
SSP Mohan Lal Bhagat also visited the temple and paid obeisance to Lord Shiva and offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of the nation. Jammu, Feb 17: The discovery of the big deposits of Lithium in Jammu province has further frustrated the terror groups based in Jammu prompting the intelligence agencies to alert the government about the “evil intentions of the enemy country.”
Sources said the intelligence agencies have accessed terror intercepts whereby, The Resistance Front, a dreaded terror group based in Pakistan, has been spreading a misinformation campaign to create chaos and to unleash terror.
While the TRF has been notorious for the threat letters against the Kashmir Pandit community in particular, in the latest, the Lashkar offshoot has spewed venom against the lithium deposits.

New Delhi, Feb 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF), which has been formed with cadres from terrorist organisations such as the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, was on Friday banned under the stringent anti-terror law, officials said here.
In a separate notification, a resident of Punjab, Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, was declared a terrorist by the Ministry of Home Affairs, they said.
According to a notification issued by the ministry, the JKGF has been involved in infiltration bids, narcotics and weapon smuggling, terror attacks in the Union territory, and threats to security forces.

New Delhi, Feb 17: Ten sensitive installations in six states and one Union territory have been declared out of bounds for the general public, with the Centre saying any information with respect to certain activities carried out at these premises may be useful to India's enemies.
Invoking the Official Secrets Act, the Union Home Ministry said in a notification that the sensitive installations are situated in Telangana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

New Delhi, Feb 17: The Centre on Friday told the Supreme Court that the issue of allegedly non-functional statutory panels in Jammu and Kashmir, including the human rights commission, is under consideration and sought three weeks to apprise it of developments.
A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala took note of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's submissions that the issue raised in the PIL is being considered at an "appropriate level".

Sharing details, Station Director Uchit Singhal the special train would run from Jammu to Haridwar on public demand to clear the extra rush on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya falling on Monday.
He said the train (04666) will run from Jammu and will depart at 1945 hours on Feb 19 and will reach Haridwar at 0550 hours on Monday.

Srinagar, Feb 17: A 26-year-old civilian came underneath a snowslide in Machil area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said. Quoting officials, that one Aijaz Ahmad Tantray, son of Ghulam Hassan Tantray, a resident of Ringbala, who was alongside his wife, came under a snowslide near Kul Bugh this afternoon.
