Babu Raj: 3months on, officials still calculate losses of hailstorm affected farmers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 1: As the ‘arrogant’ Babus are not accountable and answerable to anybody due to present bureaucratic rule in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, marginalized and neglected sections of the society are bearing brunt of the inept administration.
Although all sections of the society are facing hardship due to lack of transparency and accountability in the present system of governance, hailstorm-affected farmers of Jammu province are glaring examples of the Babus’ casual approach. With much publicity and media hype, it was announced in the month of October 2021 that compensation will be given to hailstorm-affected farmers of the plains of Jammu province. Fed-up with the repeated assurances of the authorities, farmers of R S Pura on Monday stated a protest at R S Pura and submitted a memorandum to the authorities demanding compensation for the hailstorm-affected families of this belt.

Jammu, Feb 1: Even as the government of Jammu and Kashmir has been talking tall about its recent trip to Dubai and prospective business returns worth millions from the United Arab Emirates, the direct flights to the UAE have been facing frequent cancellations for “mysterious reasons.”
The market players said Srinagar-Sharjah flight that was started on October 21, 2021, was running smoothly till January 21 but that it was witnessing cancellations since.
Ironically just days before the cancellations erupted, the high level team from J&K government led by the Raj Bhawan had visited the UAE.

Srinagar, Feb 1: An Assistant Sub Inspector was wounded in a militant attack in Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
They said the gunmen fired upon ASI Shabir Ahmed at Amishijipora village of South Kashmir's Shopian district at 5.45 pm while he was coming back from the mosque.
