PDP waiting for NC to break alliance | | |

Jammu, Feb 22: Even as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) dismissed rumours of leaving the INDIA bloc, the party is ready to contest elections on three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir Valley.
Sources in the party said that the PDP leadership has decided not to field candidates on three seats namely Jammu-Reasi, Udhampur-Doda, and Ladakh to keep Congress in good humours.
“The party leadership is very much aware that the Congress will field its candidates of these seats so there is no reason to put party’s nominees on these Lok Sabha segments”, insiders in the PDP said and added that the party will leave seats for Congress but not for the National Conference on Kashmir Valley.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday underlined his government’s commitment to fulfilling its pledge for the welfare of farmers, asserting that a “historic” hike in sugarcane’s price is part of such efforts.
This will benefit crores of sugarcane farmers, he said in a series of posts on X, highlighting several decisions taken by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.

NEW DELHI, Feb 22:
The Centre has decided to continue its flagship scheme for women safety with an approval of Rs 1,179.72 crore till 2025-26.
The Union Cabinet took the decision on Wednesday night in an effort to check incidents of crime against women in the country.
According to the latest record of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a total of 4,45,256 cases of crime against women were registered across India in 2022 – almost 51 FIRs every hour on an average.
The figure was 4,28,278 in 2021 and 3,71,503 in 2020.

Kathua/Jammu, Feb 22: The Border Security Force (BSF) found a drone-dropped improvised explosive device (IED) near the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Thursday, an official said. The IED was found in the Manyari post area, near the zero line, during a search operation that was launched after the BSF troops noticed the movement of a Pakistani drone in the morning hours and opened fire to bring it down, the official said.

Srinagar, Feb 22: Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) on Thursday issued an avalanche warning during the next 24 hours in the
higher reaches of eight districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
An avalanche with a "medium danger" level is likely to occur above 2200 meters over Bandipora, Baramulla in north Kashmir, Ganderbal in central Kashmir
and Kupwara in north Kashmir districts in the next 24 hours.
