Agitating Ladakhi groups’ to hold crucial meeting with Centre’s panel today | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 23: A crucial meeting between the sub-committee constituted by the agitating Ladakhi groups will be held with the High-Power Committee (HPC) of the Union Home Ministry on Saturday in New Delhi.
Following a productive meeting with the HPC on January 19, the agitating groups opted to defer their indefinite hunger strike, initially slated to commence on February 20.
Notably, leaders from the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) engaged in discussions with the Union Home Ministry's high-powered committee on February 19 in Delhi.
During the preceding January 19 meeting, it was agreed upon that the next round of discussions would occur on February 24 with the sub-committee representing the agitating groups.
The dialogue continues to focus on reaching consensus across various critical issues, including the Ladakh community's demand for statehood and inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, along with the establishment of an exclusive Public Service Commission for Ladakh.

Srinagar, Feb 23: Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) on Friday issued an avalanche warning in the higher reaches of six districts of Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, officials said.
An avalanche with "low danger" level is likely to occur above 2300 metres over Bandipora district of north Kashmir and in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district in the next 24 hours.
A similar warning has also been issued for the people living above 2300 metres over Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban districts of Jammu division during the next 24 hours.

The scope of judicial review in examining policy matters of the government is very limited and the courts cannot direct the States to implement a particular policy or scheme on the grounds that a ”better, fairer or wiser” option is available, the Supreme Court has said.
The observation came while disposing of a PIL seeking formulation of a scheme on setting up of community kitchens to combat hunger and malnutrition.

MENDHAR/JAMMU, Feb 23: An Army patrol destroyed a rusted landmine in a controlled explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said on Friday.
The landmine was found adjacent to the border fence in the Balnoi area of the Mankote sector on Thursday, they said.
The officials said experts were summoned and the landmine was destroyed.
