Congress leaders demonize each other before screening panel | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 2: The factionalism in the J&K unit of the Congress came to the fore during the meeting of the AICC Screening Committee as senior leaders seized this opportunity to demonize each other.
Sources said that while discussing the names of the potential candidates for two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province, many senior leaders tried to challenge the credentials and capabilities of those whose names have been incorporated in the panels of potential candidates.
“Whenever the panel discussed the name of any candidate, some leaders started making fun of his/her credentials”, a source said and added that Chairman of Screening Committee Bakhta Charan Dass was surprised to watch factionalism and infighting in the party. Sources that Bakhta Charan Dass warned the J&K leaders that this attitude and factionalism among senior leaders would prove disastrous for the party in the coming Lok Sabha and assembly elections in J&K. JAMMU, Feb 2: Security forces on Friday busted a terrorist hideout and seized a 51-mm mortar along with three shells and a pistol in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said.
The hideout was unearthed during a joint search operation by police and Rashtriya Rifles in Sangla area of Surankote, the officials said.
No arrests have been made in connection with the recovery, which also included a pistol magazine and five rounds, they said.
The officials said the weapons were found packed in a bag and had gathered rust, suggesting that the hideout was not used by terrorists for years together.

Existing laws have provisions to protect doctors from violence, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Friday amid incidents of doctors being attacked while carrying out their duties. The Law Commission has recommended that criminal defamation should be retained within the scheme of criminal laws in India.
