JK Govt polluting water bodies with absolute impunity | AMRUT guidelines violated, clearances from Pollution board not sought | |
Jammu: Startling revelation that how the government authorities are caring least about the preservation of water bodies, making the untreated wastes to flow directly into the water bodies in spite of the plethora of funds available for sewerage treatment.
Documents in possession of Early Times reveal that Atal Mission For Rejuvenation And Urban Transformation (AMRUT) guidelines stipulated that no project should be taken up for execution unless land is available and no project work order should be issued unless clearances from all concerned Departments have been received. As per the survey carried out by the Sewerage and Drainage Division-I, Srinagar, effluent from septic tanks in Zone-I- Dal Gate, Lal Chowk, Rajbagh, Sarai Bala and Zone-II - Mehjoor Nagar, Natipora, Chanapora, Baghat Barzulla of Srinagar city was discharged directly into nearby Nallahs or open field and undigested sewage- Untreated waste water and excrement conveyed in sewers was flowing directly into streams, thereby polluting water bodies and creating an unhygienic environment.

REASI, Mar 10: Deflating the tall claims of the successive governments of development in erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir, a far flung village in district Reasi still has no road connectivity.
Talking to the Early Times, a group of locals from village Sudheen ward No 6, Tehsil Pouni and district Reasi maintained that they have been struggling to get a commutable road for more than 70 years.
