Srinagar, Mar 18: Accused of being “influential”, a senior official at the Directorate of Information Technology & Support System, University of Kashmir here, has come under the scanner for alleged wrongdoings in the recruitment process at the varsity.
Official sources said there have already been “numerous discrepancies” with regard to the holding of exams for the post of Chief Trainer and Assistant Trainer under the project entitled "Establishment of Infrastructure for imparting Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) / Call Centres related training/ Skill to students.”
Initially the KU wanted to hold exams for the recruitment “quite hurriedly” making the job aspirants raise a hue and cry. And subsequently, while the applicants were given “mere one more week” to prepare for the recruitment test, another controversy has surfaced.

Jammu, Mar 18: The decision of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to skip a meeting of opposition leaders with national leaders exposed cracks in the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).
Opposition leaders met the Election Commission of India to press for the demand for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi, Mar 18: Over 7,000 women personnel are serving in the Indian Army at present followed by 1,636 in the Indian Air Force and 748 in the Navy, according to details provided by the government in Lok Sabha on Friday.
Replying to a question, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt said 7,093 women are in the Army, which included 6,993 in the Army Medical Corps, Army Dental Corps and Military Nursing Service (MNS). Hundred women are serving in other ranks.
Mr Bhatt said, currently women are serving in officer's cadre only in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and their strength as on March 1 (excluding medical and dental branches) is 1,636.

Srinagar, Mar 18: Jammu and Kashmir's Police's State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Saturday carried out raids at eight places in a case related to the alleged collection of funds of more than Rs 1.5 Crore by Moulana Sarjan Barkati, the face of 2016 protests in Kashmir, officials said.

Pulwama, Mar 18: Four people were killed and 28 injured on Saturday when the bus in which they were travelling turned turtle as the driver lost control of the vehicle in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The incident took place on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Barsoo area of the south Kashmir district, they said.
Four passengers, all residents of Bihar, died in the accident.
