Jammu pays for BJP's silence on PDP-PC 'corruption, favouritism' in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 1: Amid numerous complaints of "corruption and favoritism" to absorb the kith and kin of Peoples Democratic Party leaders in government jobs, Jammu has borne the brunt of these 'illegal' appointments.
Officials said government agencies like the Khadi Board, Social Welfare Department and National Rural Health Mission have unduly benefited the kith and kin of PDP leaders by snatching due share of Jammu region in these jobs.
Citing the example of Khadi board, officials said the lion's share of jobs was given to Kashmir whereas Jammu was ignored.
Officials said the same holds true for jobs given to "influential" candidates in the Integrated Child Protection Scheme, which falls under the purview of Social Welfare Department headed by separatist turned mainstream politician Sajjad Gani Lone.
Official sources said dozens of candidates have been absorbed under this centrally sponsored scheme but mainly from Kashmir region in the Social Welfare Department.

SRINAGAR, Mar 1: In an example of administrative inertia, the officials of the Power Development Department have failed to frame a comprehensive proposal for atleast nine projects of Jammu region.
Sources said that nine centrally-sponsored projects were sanctioned to the state under two DDUGJY and IPDS schemes for installation of poles and transmission lines. Each region was expected to get around Rs 600 crore under these two schemes for strengthening of power distribution system. "There has been zero spending," sources said. "These funds have to be spent within a time framework. If there is further delay then these funds may get lapsed," sources said.

Jammu, Mar 1: The administration of Government degree college Kathua has allegedly embezzled nearly Rs 3 lakhs, collected from students as charges for Identity cards as the session is on the verge of closure but no identity cards have been issued.
Sources informed Early Times that during admissions in three years degree course, Rs 100 were collected from each student. A total of nearly 3500 students are enrolled in various courses. As per an estimate a total of Rs. 3.5 lakhs was collected from students but no Identity cards have been issued by college administration, sources said, adding that the session is coming to an end and exams are scheduled to start shortly.
