Despite re-joining Cong, ex-Azad loyalists struggle to regain lost positions | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 21: Over two and half months have been passed after their re-joining in the Congress party but the incumbent leaders of the party are not ready to allow former loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad to actively participate in activities of the party.
Tara Chand, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Thakur Balwan Singh and other senior, who “ditched” their political mentor Ghulam Nabi Azad, are finding it difficult to get back the positions which they were enjoying before quitting the Congress party.
Despite directions from the high command to properly accommodate these ex-loyalists of Azad, the present leadership of the J&K Congress, is not ready to accept them.
Notably, at least seventeen loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad, including two political stalwarts who were expelled from the Democratic Azad Party (DAP), rejoined the Congress party in New Delhi on January 6, 2023.

Chandigarh, Mar 21: Amid wild allegations that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government helped pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh to give a slip to the police, Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday lambasted the state government for its failure to arrest the “fugitive” leader.

Srinagar, Mar 21: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a Kashmiri freelancer journalist in an alleged terror funding case, official sources said.
They said Irfan Mehraj, an independent journalist and researcher based in Srinagar, was arrested by NIA on Monday evening in a FIR registered at NIA police station New Delhi in which human rights activist Khurram Parvez was arrested in 2021. Irfan was formerly a researcher with Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS), a prominent rights group headed by Khurram.
Irfan has been shifted to Delhi, the sources said.
NIA has not issued any statement on the arrest.

New Delhi, Mar 21: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Tuesday said 23 individuals have been designated as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the last one year.
“23 individuals have been designated as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act; 1967 during 2022 and 2023 till date,” Rai told Lok Sabha in reply to a question by BJP Lok Sabha MP Bhagirath Choudhary.
