Delhi lowers legal age of drinking to 21 years | | |

new delhi, Mar 22: The Delhi Cabinet on Monday approved a new excise policy lowering the minimum age for consumption of liquor to 21 years from 25 years, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced.
According to the new policy, no new liquor shops will be opened in Delhi and the government will not run any vend.
"The new excise policy was approved by the Cabinet today on basis of the recommendations of the Group of Ministers. It was decided that no new liquor shops will be opened in the national capital and the government will not run any liquor shops. At present, 60 per cent liquor shops in Delhi are run by the government," Sisodia said at a press conference.

jammu, Mar 22: After participating in the District Development Councils (DDCs) elections as constituent of the Peoples' Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said that her party will not participate in Assembly elections until "special status" of J&K is restored.
Mehbooba said that elections in J&K were neither a priority of her party nor a solution of vexed Kashmir problem. In an interview with a news-paper, Mehbooba said her struggle for restoration of Article 370 will continue through 'democratic means'.

ANANTNAG, Mar 22: Contrary to transfer policy, the Jammu and Kashmir Government hasn't dared to touch the overstaying clerical staff in South Kashmir's Anantnag which is now surprisingly witnessing frequent transfer of Deputy Commissioners from last year.
According to details available with Early Times, during the last fourteen (14) months, the government transferred four Deputy Commissioners in Anantnag, however it hasn't transferred a single clerk since last many years who are posted in Anantnag Mini-Secretariat or in the offices of other departments.
