Conman Kiren Patel case raises surveillance issues in JK, Delhi concerned | | | Sanjay Pandita

Jammu, Mar 26: In a shocking turn in the Gujarati conman, Kiren Patel case, New Delhi apprehends a “breach of electronic surveillance” asking the Jammu and Kashmir Police to “focus on all angles especially the CCTV link.”
The development came to fore after the JK police nabbed Amit Pandya, a man from Gujarat who had been accompanying Kiren Patel to Kashmir during the previous visits.
Sources said the investigators have learnt that 43-year-old Amit, had again come to J&K this month along with Patel “for business purpose” before being caught.
Sources said Amit has told the police that he had come to Kashmir for “CCTV deals.” Sources said the accused has told the police that he was dealing with CCTV equipment and wanted to get contracts in the region through Kiren Patel.
A senior official said: “What needs to be thoroughly probed that if a man linked to conman deals with CCTVs, what kind of cameras could they be installing and if the same could be part of some apprehended surveillance breach.”

Srinagar, Mar 26: World's highest railway bridge over the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir is soon to get operational for rail traffic.
The much-awaited world's highest railway bridge spans the Chenab River at a height of 359 m (1,178 ft) above the river, which is 35 meters taller than Paris' Eiffel Tower.
The arch bridge between Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir is 1,178 feet above the riverbed, forming a crucial link from Katra to Banihal. It is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL), a dream project worth Rs 35000 crore.

Jammu, Mar 26: Amid reports that higher-ups of the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (JKPDCL) are hesitating to take action against influential defaulters, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta on Sunday directed the officer to bring down Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses at any cost.
Giving a clear message to the officers not to spare anyone the Chief Secretary said that the overall AT&C losses should be brought down to less than 20% in the UT.
Presently AT&C losses in J&K is 59.28 percent second highest in the country after Nagaland.

Srinagar, Mar 26: Weather has improved on Sunday after upper reaches experienced fresh snowfall and plains lashed by rains during the past few days in Kashmir valley, officials said.
Meteorological Department forecast of mainly dry weather over Kashmir division and very light rain or traces at one or two places over Jammu division during next 24 hours.
Higher reaches of Kashmir valley including ski resort of Gulmarg experienced snowfall while plains were lashed by rains during the past few days resulted in drop in temperature.
