Jammu, Mar 30: A young boy who wasn’t even 20 years of age died on Wednesday as he collapsed while taking part in the half marathon run in South Kashmir. Such an unfortunate incident has once again exposed the administration that has failed to take pre-emptive measures during such crucial events.
Reports inform that a half marathon race was scheduled on Wednesday in Shadimarg zone and four other zones in the district and accordingly every school in the area was informed to send five students. The event was conducted by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports. Reports quoting an official have said that Higher Secondary School Rajpora had also sent five students and while the race was started today morning, the boy fell unconscious just after a few meters.
It was informed further that the boy was immediately shifted to PHC Rajpora wherefrom he was referred to district hospital Pulwama. However, he has been declared brought dead there.
