'RDD officials withdraw Rs 5 lakh on job card holder's name' | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Jammu, April 11: In a glaring example of corruption in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, the officials in Kishtwar's remote Warwan block withdrew around Rs 5 lakh on account of material cost on the name of a job card holder.
The job card holder came to know about the release of the money on his name only few months ago and was shocked to see that such huge amount stands withdrawn against his name without his knowledge.
Ghulam Hassan Rather, son of Karim Rather, of Kuzaz, Panchayat Afti in Warwan block alleges that an amount of around Rs 5 lakh was withdrawn by the officials of RDD department on his name during the year 2015-16-17 for five different works while another Rs 25.50 lakh was withdrawn against the names of other job card holders during the same year.

Jammu, April 11: The much-hyped Chief Minister's Grievance Cell is no more active as the website dedicated for the purpose is virtually 'dead'.
The Grievance Cell, which is headed by Chief Minister's brother and Tourism Minister Tasaduq Mufti, would largely operate through website http://jkgrievance.nic.in where apart from submitting grievances, complainants would get to know about the status of their complaints.
Officials said the website would give details of each and every complaint lodged and action taken if any.

Jammu, April 11: Before closing the Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) two weeks ago, the Union government had released salaries of people employed under the scheme. The J&K government, however, is yet to release the salary to the employees.
Riyaz-ul-Haq Shah, an erstwhile SBM employee, informed Early Times that the government of India released Rs 18.14 crore for salary of 6,000 employees in mid of March 2018 before closing the scheme. But till date the department concerned has failed to release the salary to the employees for unknown reasons.
