Amid reports of ECI’s visit, BJP starts preparing panels of potential candidates | | |

Jammu, Apr 12: Amid reports of the possible visit of the Election Commission of India to Jammu and Kashmir, BJP has started an exercise to prepare panels of potential candidates.
Highly placed sources said that the BJP high command has asked state unit to prepare panels of three potential candidates for each of the assembly seats of J&K.
“It has been clearly directed to the state unit that panels should not be comprised of less than three candidates for each Parliamentary seat”, the BJP leader said, adding, “party will field candidates on all 90 assembly seats of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir”.
“Decision to repeat or replace the MLAs who won 2014 assembly elections of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir will be taken by the high command”, sources said and added that the only task assigned to the state unit is to prepare panels of potential candidates for all
Reports said that reports of the visit of ECI likely this month has raised hopes of political parties that assembly polls in the Union territory could be held this year.

New Delhi, Apr 12: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, sources said.
Shah will be given a detailed presentation on the prevailing law and order situation in J-K by security officials of the central government and the union territory administration.

BATHINDA/NEW DELHI, Apr 12: Four Army jawans were killed in firing inside a military station in Bathinda in Punjab early Wednesday, with the state police registering a case against two unidentified persons.
The four personnel, in their mid 20s, were sleeping when the firing took place around 4:30 am in a barracks near the officers’ mess in the artillery unit.
A jawan saw two unidentified men in white kurta-pyjama, their faces and heads covered, coming out of the barracks after the firing. One of them was carrying an INSAS rifle and the other an axe, the jawan said, according to the police FIR.

New Delhi, Apr 12: An INSAS rifle that went missing from the Bathinda Military Station and was suspected to have been used in the killing of four Army personnel early Wednesday morning inside the facility has been found, the Army said.
The four soldiers from an artillery unit were killed in a shooting incident at the station around 4.35 am, the Army said in a statement without mentioning the circumstances and other details relating to the incident.
Army sources said a court of inquiry (CoI) will investigate the entire incident in addition to the ongoing probe by the police with support from the force.

Leh, Apr 12: Government of India (GoI) has approved the creation of 45 new posts for the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR), Leh Ladakh on various levels.
The union cabinet, under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the establishment of the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa at Leh Ladakh on 20th November 2019.
The creation of 45 new posts is a historic occasion for the Sowa-Rigpa system of medicine, particularly the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa.

SRINAGAR, Apr 12: The Government on Wednesday informed that 122 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 52 from Jammu division and 70 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of active positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 531.
Moreover, 62 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 12 from Jammu Division and 50 from Kashmir Division.
