Govt to introduce online classes amid COVID 19 in JK, really? | 75% of Govt run schools function without electricity, more than 2K sans drinking water | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 14: Once again an ironical approach is being adopted by the authorities who are out to announce online classes amid the COVID19 lockdown in the erstwhile state- forgetting the fact that 75 percent of the government schools in Jammu and Kashmir have no computer facilities and a majority of them even do not have a basic electricity connection.
The government announced on April 13 that it is mulling to start the online virtual classes through different platforms like Whatsapp, Skype, Zoom Cloud, Skype, Google Classroom to reach out to the Children. “The schools have to form different groups of their students and teachers and accordingly form a timetable for virtual classes. They should also engage them in a play way activity, quizzes, assignments, small projects in a two-way process,” the government said.
However, the situation on ground appears in no way favourable for such projects to succeed.

SRINAGAR, Apr 14: For a change there were some good news on the Corona Virus front in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as just eight cases were reported over the past 24 hours. At the same time, 14 more COVID-19 patients recovered today and were discharged from the hospitals in Srinagar and Bandipora.
Sounding optimistic the spokesman for Jammu & Kashmir government Rohit Kansal tweeted, “For now our luck seems to be holding!!! 8 new cases, 14 recoveries. New cases-06 from Kashmir and 02 from Jammu Division.14 recoveries, all from Kashmir. Total cases now 278.”

Jammu, Apr 14: A day after releasing a medical strategy for mitigating the spread of coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir, the administration Tuesday issued the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for areas classified as ‘red zones’ in the Union Territory.
As per the SOP, a 100 per cent lockdown will be enforced in these red zones with “no outward/inward” movement allowed.
There will be only “one opening” to the red zone, manned by a "naka party and a magistrate”.
