Rs 2700 cr go adrift in JK’s financial records | 32.32 % of bills drawn in March 2019 alone, 22% drawn on last day of financial year | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 17: A startling revelation has come to the fore about the expenditure of more than Rs 2700 crore in Jammu and Kashmir.
The scrutiny of records has revealed that there was no assurance found on whether such whooping expenditure has been incurred for the purpose for which it was actually authorised by the legislature or not.
Documents in possession of Early Times divulge that against a total amount of Rs 5,178.56 crore comprising of 2,257 bills drawn on Abstract Contingent bills by various drawing and disbursing officers up to 31 January 2019, corresponding DC bills were not submitted to the Accountant General (A&E), Jammu & Kashmir.
Out of 2,257 number of outstanding AC bills, 1,840 bills amounting to Rs 1,159.89 crore pertains upto 2016-17, 144 bills amounting to Rs 1,306.35 crore pertains to 2017-18 and the balance 273 bills valuing Rs 2,712.32 crore pertains to the year 2018-19.

Although he was here to visit the residence of former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Manmohan Choudhary to condole the demise of his wife, Vijay Choudhary, Rakesh Tikait gave a veiled warning to the Union Government.

Jammu, Apr 17: Out of 3500 truckers entering Jammu and Kashmir daily only 150 undergo the Covid test.
Sources at Lakhanpur informed Early Times that as per daily reports and data entry of the truck operators, around 2100 to 2200 trucks J&K daily. “In these 2100-2200 trucks there are around 3500-4000 persons including operators and helpers. But majority of them are not tested at Lakhanpur. Only 100-150 truckers are randomly tested, while rest of them are allowed to enter the union territory without any testing,” an official deputed at Lakhanpur informed.

Jammu, Apr 17: Concerned over the spike in coronavirus cases, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday restricted the ceiling on social gatherings to 100 people and also announced the postponement of Class 11th examination.
The latest directive comes two days after Lt Governor Manoj Sinha-led administration deferred biannual 'durbar move' to Srinagar, extended closure of all schools up to and including Class 12 till April 30 along with private coaching centres. JAMMU, Apr 17: Residents of Laitar in tehsil Pouni in Reasi district are up in arms against the authorities for allegedly using substandard material for constructing a school building under RMSA scheme.
Residents told Early Times that they have submitted a representation to Deputy Commissioner Reasi and to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, about the contractors using substandard material to construct the building.
