Cong leader accused of swindling Bharat Jodo Yatra funds deputed for Punjab bye-election | | |

Jammu, Apr 20: Apparently patronizing corruption and nepotism in the party, Congress leadership has deputed four leaders from Jammu and Kashmir for the bye-election of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency.
Interestingly, the name of one of them was allegedly involved in swindling funds sanctioned for publicity during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
On April 19, Rajya Sabha member and the AICC secretary incharge of J&K and Ladakh Rajni Patil has written a letter to J&K Congress Committee chief Vikar Rasool Wani and asked him to depute four leaders for bye-election of Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat in Punjab.
Everybody in Congress circle is shocked to see the name of one of the accused in publicity scam was also figured in the list.
As reported earlier, one Harayna resident Anil Saini had alleged that some Congress leaders were not giving him the payment of branding during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Reports said that Anil Saini was engaged by the party for the branding of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in some northern states including Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, Apr 20: Seeking intervention of the Modi government, prominent singer Mehmeet Syed on April 20 accused the administration of Rs 5 crore scam in Dubai trip last year adding that the artists were not paid their dues.
Addressing media here, Mehmeet flanked by noted singers like Waqar Khan said the artists were part of Jammu and Kashmir administration’s Dubai trip in 2022.
She said the artists were assured of Rs 2.5 lakh payment but that despite passing of a year, the dues were not cleared.

Jammu, Apr 20: Five Army personnel attained martyrdom when some unidentified terrorists attacked the Army vehicle on Thursday in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi, Apr 20: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was briefed by Army Chief General Manoj Pande on the death of five soldiers in a terrorist attack in Poonch district, defence sources said on Thursday.
According to sources, the army jawans on the ground were keeping a watch on the situation and taking appropriate action.
Earlier in the day, army jawans said a fire in an army truck in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of five personnel, was caused by grenades lobbed by terrorists.

SRINAGAR, Apr 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority on Thursday issued avalanche warnings in eight districts of the Union Territory, officials said. Avalanche with ‘low’ danger level is likely to occur above 2,400-3,200 metres over Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts in the next 24 hours, the disaster management authority officials said.
Avalanche with ‘medium’ danger level is likely to occur above 2,800 metres over the Ganderbal district, they said.
People in these districts have been advised to take precautions and avoid venturing to avalanche-prone areas till further orders, they added.
