Political parties take dig at PDD for 'power crises' | | |

Srinagar, Apr 22: With no end to erratic power supply in Jammu and Kashmir, some of the prominent political parties of J&K have been taking dig at the Power Development Department or PDD for alleged "power crises."
While the National Conference has been repeatedly issuing statements against the “power crises”, other parties have joined the chorus.
The Peoples Conference led by Sajad Gani Lone, who is otherwise seen as close to the BJP, has pulled up the PDD saying “Pervasive power crises never witnessed in JK’s history.”

Jammu, Apr 22: The power shutdowns in Jammu region have become a routine amid the sweltering heat. The Jammu Development Power Corporation Limited (JPDCL) is reportedly facing a shortage of 600 MWs and in order to fill in the gap the corporation is resorting to unscheduled power cuts.
The power crisis in Jammu with the advent of summer season has triggered outrage among the residents. According to the sources, JPDCL is yet to take a decision on buying electricity from the Northern Grid. If the additional power is not purchased Jammu region can have 5 to 7-hour power cuts daily.

JAMMU, Apr 22: People in Jammu are witnessing an unprecedented power crisis for the last three-four days. People are suffering badly due to frequent power cuts in the city localities forcing them to remain awake throughout the night.
The power cuts during the evening for a couple of hours are normal phenomena. But frequent power cuts throughout the night are forcing the residents to wait endlessly for resumption of power supply, which as and when gets restored remains only for a few hours.

Srinagar, Apr 22: Two non-local labourers were shot at and injured in yet another targeted attack on Friday evening on Srinagar outskirts, police said.
The incident took place at around 7:50 pm in Nowgam area of Srinagar.
Police said two labourers - Najamul Islam and Anikul Islam, hailing from West Bengal, were shot in the periphery of Srinagar district on Srinagar-Pulwama-Budgam boundary at Suthsoo Kalan area of Nowgam.
"In this terror incident, both the labourers received gunshot injuries and were immediately shifted to hospital for treatment," a police spokesman said. Police said an operation has been launched to catch the culprits.
