No Khalistani wave in Punjab: Amit Shah | | |

New Delhi, Apr 22: Even as the hunt to arrest Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh continues, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that there is no Khalistan wave in Punjab and the Centre is keeping a close watch on the situation.
The home minister pointed out that Punjab government had done good work and that the Centre had cooperated.
"There is no wave (of Khalistan). Many times, some people try, but the governments have done their job. The Punjab government has done a good job, the Centre has supported. We are monitoring the situation closely," Shah said while speaking at a media conclave in Benguluru.

JAMMU, Apr 22: Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday visited the site of the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district that killed five Indian soldiers carrying fruits and other items in a truck for an Iftar gathering in a forward village.
He reviewed the security in the border area and the ongoing combing operation to track down the terrorists who ambushed the Army truck on Thursday.

Srinagar, Apr 22: Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) on Saturday issued an avalanche warning for six districts during the next 24 hours.
“Avalanche with low danger level is likely to occur above 2500 to 3200 metres above sea level over Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Ganderbal and Kupwara districts in the next 24 hours,” the official statement said.

New Delhi, Apr 22: India has successfully conducted a maiden flight trial of a sea-based endo-atmospheric interceptor missile off the coast of Odisha.
With this, India joins a select group of countries, including the United States, Russia, Israel, and China that have fully operational BMD systems.
The missile test was conducted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy on Friday.
"The purpose of the trial was to engage and neutralise a hostile ballistic missile threat thereby elevating India into the elite club of nations having Naval BMD capability," the Ministry of Defence said on Saturday.

New Delhi, Apr 22: The India Meteorological Department on Saturday said most parts of India will have a sigh of relief for the next five days from the searing heatwave conditions that had rattled people this week.
It said a cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh and another over interior Tamil Nadu. A trough of relatively low pressure runs from northwest Madhya Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu across Telangana. Private forecaster Skymet Weather added another trough extends from northeast Bihar to Odisha via Jharkhand.
Weather experts say a trough usually brings cloudy conditions and rain, leading to a drop in temperatures.
