Jammu, Apr 28: On October 10, 2020, when Jammu’s premier health institute-Government Medical College (GMC), was reeling under the acute scarcity of life-saving Oxygen, Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education had announced that tenders worth Rs 223 crores have already been floated to set-up oxygen plants in 37 hospitals across J&K.
He rather claimed that bids have been received and works would be allotted within a week’s time.
Six months have been passed after floating the tenders but none of the Oxygen plant has been set up till date- which is an indication of the casual approach being adopted by the authorities to improve health infrastructure in J&K.
In the month of October 2020, it was announced that all these 37 oxygen plants would be made functional within a maximum time of four months but these plants have missed the deadline.

Jammu, Apr 28: With single-day highest 30 Covid deaths in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours, total COVID fatalities in J&K reached 2227 with 237 deaths in the month of April only. In the month of the J&K has recorded eight COVID deaths, which is an alarming and warning signal for the authorities.
On March 31, the death toll in J&K was 1990 including 1255 from Kashmir Valley and the remaining 735 from the Jammu division. During the last 28 days this number has jumped to 2227 including 1372 from Valley and 855 from Jammu division.

Srinagar, Apr 28: To help a UP based dairy firm, the Food Safety department allegedly delayed the testing of skimmed milk products for about two months during which the firm completed the sale of the ‘unsafe’ and ‘substandard’ product.
Official sources on Wednesday told Early Times that testing of the sample was deliberately delayed.

Jammu, Apr 28: An 84-hour lockdown will be imposed in 11 districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening in a bid to tackle the surge in COVID-19 cases, a senior official said.
The union territory had on Tuesday recorded its highest single-day spike of 3,164 COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 1,66,054, while 25 fatalities over the last 24 hours took the toll to 2,197.
