Jammu, Apr 3: Five States have announced salary cuts for their employees in wake of the economic crisis triggered by the outbreak of COVID-19.
Maharashtra has announced that salary of Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, MLAs, MLCs and representatives of local governing bodies will be cut by 60% in March. The salaries of class I and II officers will be cut by 50% and salaries of class-III employees will be cut by 25%.
Similarly Telangana has cut the salaries of its employees and pensions from 10% to 75%.
Rajasthan government has announced that salaries between 1 to 5 days will be cut of all the employees for providing relief to the COVID-19 victims. Odhisha and Andhra Pradesh have deferred the salaries of the government employees for the March month.
The COVID-19 has turned into a full blown economic crisis across the country leaving the state governments with no other option other than to go for pay cut of its employees. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “Jammu has been facing uncertainty since August last year.

Jammu, Apr 3: The Union Home Ministry on Friday amended 48 hours old domicile law and reserved all the posts for Jammu and Kashmir residents only.
Earlier on Wednesday Centre issued notification defining rules for claiming domicile and access to reserved government jobs for the people of the Union Territory. The reservation for domiciles will not apply to Group A and Group B posts and only to level 4 posts or posts that carry a payscale not more than level 4.

Jammu, Apr 3: Police have traced and identified dozens of fake account handles who were involved in series of “online crimes” including impersonating, forgery after creating fake accounts in the name of senior officers.
It also said that strict action that includes three year jail term under Indian Penal Code (IPC) was in offing for those involved in the cyber-crimes.

Srinagar, Apr 3: Even as around two thousand people have been quarantined by the government at hotels and other similar facilities in Kashmir, the service is likely to cost the Union Territory around Rs one crore.
Officials said most of those who have been put in quarantine facilities that have been developed mostly at hotels are the students who study in foreign countries but have returned home in the wake of coronavirus.
