Return of exiled KPs to Kashmir looks bleak | Modi Govt acting like its predecessors | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 4: The prospect of return of exiled Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley looks bleak because of indifference of successive governments in New Delhi, including the incumbent Modi regime. The previous Janata Dal, UPA as well as NDA governments at the Centre failed to take any concrete measures for return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in the Valley. Now, the exiled community's hopes, which they had pinned on the Modi government, have also been dashed to the ground.
The Modi government which took over in May 2014 had kept the return of Pandits to Kashmir Valley in its agenda. But in its four year tenure it has failed to take any concrete step in this regard. The Modi government has, in fact, pursued the policy of its predecessors on the Pandits' return issue.
The silence maintained by the BJP government on the plight of the community has generated a lot of resentment among the seven lakh displaced Pandits who became refugees in their own country after terrorism backed by Pakistan took Kashmir Valley under its grip in 1990.
Though the displaced Pan... | |
