10 lakh bogus beneficiaries getting subsidized ration detected across UT | | |

Jammu, Apr 4: Jammu and Kashmir Government has detected more than ten lakh bogus beneficiaries, who were getting subsidized ration from the outlets of the Department of the Food and Public Distribution across the Union Territory.
During a meeting with Union Secretary, Union Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution, Sanjeev Chopra, Commissioner Secretary of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Zubair Ahmad said that Aadhaar seeding has facilitated the removal of more than a million bogus beneficiaries.
He informed the Union Secretary that there are 24.80 lakh ration card holders in J&K covering a population 96.74 lakh beneficiaries with cent percent Aadhaar Seeding.
Zubair Ahmed said the Public Distribution System in J&K is built around a strong and widespread network of 6735 ration shops including 2104 govt shops and 4631 private outlets.

Srinagar, Apr 4: Srinagar-Kargil national highway has been closed for vehicular traffic following avalanches that were triggered due to snowfall at various places on the Zojila road on Tuesday, officials said.
"The highway has been closed for vehicular traffic due to avalanches at Panimatha and Kai-pathri areas following snowfall", he said.

Srinagar, Apr 4: Jammu and Kashmir Police's State Investigation Agency (SIA) is carrying out raids at multiple locations including the residences of two separatists in a case of militancy funding, official sources said.
The raids that began on Tuesday morning were underway in districts of Srinagar, Baramulla and Kupwara, they said.

Srinagar, Apr 4: The authorities on Tuesday said that Srinagar-Jammu national highway will remain closed for traffic on April 7 as traffic dry day.
In a statement, Senior superintendent of Police Traffic Ramban, Mohita Sharma said that the highway will remain closed for repair and maintenance work from April 7 till April 8 morning.
“Based on J&K UT Government directions passed on 31.03.2023 for undertaking important repair and maintenance works on NH-44 by NHAI, 07th April 2023 has been declared Traffic Dry Day between Nashri to Navyuga Tunnel”, reads the statement.
