J&K parliamentarians couldn’t utilize MPLADS funds | | |

Jammu, Apr 10: Parliamentarians from Jammu and Kashmir have shown a dismal performance to utilize Member Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS ) funds.
The Union government in abid to fight the COVID-19 outbreak has decided to divert the MPLADS funds towards Consolidated Fund of India, which will be used to purchase equipments for medical facilities, to develop medical infrastructure, testing and screening of patients. These funds won’t be available with the MPs until 2022.
According to the data available with Early Times, the Lok Sabha members have so far failed to utilize the maximum of the funds allocated and released to them. All the Lok Sabha MPs are entitled to Rs 5 Crore as their constituency development fund out of which Rs 2.5 Crore stand released in favour of each parliamentarian including Dr. Jatinder Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Hasnain Masoodi, Mohammad Akbar Lone and Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
Apart from Dr Farooq Abdullah who has Rs. 3.55 crore, all other MPs have Rs 2.50 crore of funds available with interest.

Jammu, Apr 8: The Jammu and Kashmir government is spending a whopping Rs 8.5 Crores to procure as many as 50 hi-tech ventilators for its hospitals in the union territory but that the consignment is likely to take a month more to reach the destination.
Official documents as accessed by the Early Times reveal that the government has made an order of 50 ventilators for Jammu and Kashmir way back in March.
Officials said each such “high end” ventilators costing 17 lakh each has been ordered from a Maharashtra based firm.

SRINAGAR, Apr 8: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir saw of tremendous hike of more than 26 percent in the Corona Virus cases today as 33 more persons tested positive for COVID-19.
Out of the 33 cases 30 cases were reported from Kashmir with the other three reported from the Jammu division. With today’s fresh cases the number of positive cases of Corona Virus in the union territory reached 158.

Kulgam, Apr 8: Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Wednesday reported its first coronavirus case after a man, who had came in contact with a member of Tabligi Jammat, had tested positive. A per reports the coronavirus infected person had came in contact with one of the infected Tabligi Jammat member last month.
“The person, who tested positive for coronavirus today, was put in home quarantine on 26th of last month,” Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shabir Ahmad Bhat told Early Times.

Jammu/Leh, Apr 8: Wearing face masks has been made mandatory in the Civil Secretariat-the seat of Jammu and Kashmir government--and Leh district in the Union Territory of Ladakh, officials said on Wednesday.
An order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) said face masks have been made mandatory for all the officers, staff and visitors in the Civil Secretariat as a preventive measure to stop the spread of coronavirus.
