Strange! CLUJ, JKPSC and HED follow different guidelines to shortlist faculty members | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 9: Strangely, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and Higher Education Department have different criteria for short-listing candidates for college faculty members. Both these institutions are blatantly violating the guidelines and criteria of the University Grants Commission (UGC) that’s implemented for the same purpose across the country.
Reluctance of these important institutions to implement the UGC criteria in toto for the past many years has resulted into unnecessary litigations, which are filed by the aggrieved candidates for violation of UGC criteria by these entities.
In a recent case, the Central Administrative Tribunal Jammu Bench has delivered a judgement on May 3, 2021 in response to a petition filed by Ph.D Degree holders against the Higher Education Department.

Jammu, May 9: Despite receiving massive central grants to achieve the objectives of ground water recharging by maximizing retention and minimizing loss, as envisaged in the “State Water Policy” the J&K has failed miserably to implement the scheme.
According to the documents in possession of Early Times, irregular grant of 46 RCs to industrial/ infrastructure projects and unauthorized extraction of ground water by 78 users without any RC of the Competent authority in respect of 92 bore/ tube wells led to non-recovery of fee of Rs 128.80 lakh. Non-assessment of water usage charges of 32 users resulted in non-raising of minimum demand of Rs 12.92 crore.

Jammu, May 9: Taking serious note of unabated COVID deaths in J&K in general and Jammu region in particular, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday directed authorities to take effective steps for better survival rate.
Lt Governor emphasized the need for early diagnosis of the infection to check the mortality rate. He directed the Health Department to intensify the testing so that affected patients can be identified and treated accordingly. He called for communication with the public for cooperation and further directed for focusing on vulnerable groups for testing and vaccination.

SRINAGAR, May 9: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 5,190 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 16,932. Following 54 fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus reached 2,726.
