Jammu, May 9: Within hours after giving a highly explosive statement about the present position of the party in J&K, Mohammad Amin Bhat-a two-time Congress MLA and a staunch supporter of Ghulam Nabi Azad retracted from his earlier remarks.
His statement that Congress will not win even a single seat in the coming assembly elections evoked a strong reaction and the party sought clarification from him.
Retracting his earlier statement, Bhat said that he had said that without Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress will not form the government in the upcoming election in Jammu and Kashmir.
Bhat, who was a former president of the J&K Youth Congress said he only stated that without Ghulam Nabi Azad party is zero in J&K.
“During a meeting with the party in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir Rajni Patel I had said that if Ghulam Nabi Azad is not declared the CM candidate or he is not made the party president, then Congress is zero here”, Bhat said.

Srinagar, May 9: A 34-year old woman died on Monday after a tin sheet of a roof fell on her in Anantnag.
The tin sheet was carried away by gusty winds that swept from North to South Kashmir destroying houses and uprooting trees today.
Reports said that Meenu Jan, wife of Khursheed Ahmad Gareeb of Batengoo in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district suffered serious injuries after a tin sheet fell on her due to strong gusty winds near Habkhatoon petrol pump.

Srinagar, May 9: Security forces arrested a “hybrid” militant in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said on Monday.
They said Tawheed Ahmad Haroon of Delina Ghat, Baramulla was arrested by joint forces at a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) which was set near the Juhama crossing in the district.

The search operation was jointly carried out by police and other security forces in the forest area of Dera Ki Gali along the Mughal road connecting the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in the Jammu region with south Kashmir’s Shopian district, the officials added.

Banihal/Jammu, May 9: A 12-year-old boy died while three girls were hospitalised after consuming some poisonous herb in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Monday.
The children were playing in a forest area near Rakhjaroh village in Batote area on Sunday when they consumed the unknown wild herb, a police official said.
He said they fell unconscious after vomiting and were rushed to the Community Health Centre, Batote, where one of them identified as Mohammad Basit died.
