Dangal at SMC: Mayor, Deputy, others lock horns, Seek Raj Bhawan intervention | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 11: With the Srinagar Smart City notifying new parking rates in the summer capital here, a war of words has erupted in the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) with the elected representatives washing the dirty linen in public.
Even the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor have locked horns with each other while the concerned have sought intervention of the Raj Bhawan.
“SMC has neither been consulted nor has it authorized these parking rates — which I believe has exclusive statutory mandate for public places. A parking policy/by-laws for Srinagar would deal with this. Arbitrary, isolated notification of parking rates is a contradictory exercise,” the SMC Mayor Junaid
Mattoo said on his social media handle.
The Deputy Mayor was quick to respond sharply. “After a very long time; someone is being reminded of Laws & implementing the same! It’s the same person who ruthlessly violated; transgressed & infringed them. He has made all #SMC committees dysfunctional; how come is he talking about Rules & Regulations today. It truly doesn’t suit him; he has crea... | |
