Katra Police trying to pass on murder of my daughter as suicide: Mother | Teenage girl’s mysterious death | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 12: Family members of the a teenage girl, who was found hanging in a hotel at Katra in mysterious circumstances on April 9, 2023, on Friday alleged that their daughter was murdered and she hadn’t committed a suicide.
Talking to Early Times mother of the victim, said, “ Katra Police are trying to pass on the murder of my daughter as suicide. She has been killed and it should be investigated. I knew my daughter had no reasons to end her life.”
Basant Lal, father of the victim, said, “Since the day my daughter has been found dead I have been running from pillar to post to know why and how she committed suicide.”

New Delhi, May 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that earlier students used to get “kitabi gyan” (bookish knowledge) but the New Education Policy will change that.
Speaking at the 29th Biennial Conference of All India Primary Teachers' Federation here, Modi said Google can give data and information but the role of teachers is to be the mentors of students.

NEW DELHI, May 12: A new ‘Model Prisons Act 2023’ that will replace the 130-year-old pre-independence era law has been prepared by the Centre to address lacunae in the existing law and focus more on reformation and rehabilitation of inmates, the Union home ministry said on Friday.
Among the salient features of the model Act are provisions of punishment for prisoners and jail staff for use of prohibited items like mobile phones etc. in jails and providing for legal aid to prisoners, provision of parole, furlough and premature release etc. to incentivise good conduct, the ministry of home affairs (MHA) said in a statement.
