Jammu, May 12: With unprecedented security, the prestigious Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is going for the poll on May 13.
2,135 polling stations have been set up for polling for the Srinagar Parliamentary constituency spread over five districts namely Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam, Ganderbal, and Shopian.
Although there are two dozen candidates in the fray, the real contest is among candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, the National Conference, and the J&K Apni Party.
Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi from the NC, Waheed-ur-Rehman Para from the PDP, and Mohammad Ashraf Mir from the J&K Apni Party are the prominent candidates for this seat.

Jammu, May 12: A man was attacked with acid allegedly by a neighbor at Jain Bazar here on Saturday night.
Family members of Sahil Verma alleged that the attack was fueled by a longstanding feud between the two families.
According to Sahil’s family, the assailant targeted Sahil while he was out to fetch medicine for his ailing mother late at night.
Sahil’s family said that they received a call informing them about Sahil’s hospitalization.
“Thankfully, Sahil was wearing a helmet at the time, which prevented severe facial injuries, but his neck and other parts of his body were burnt in the attack,” claimed his family.

The doors of the Badrinath temple in the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand opened for devotees on Sunday after remaining closed during the winter season.

JAMMU, May 12: Security forces on Sunday unearthed a terrorist hideout in a forest area in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, recovering a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including nine Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and three pistols, officials said.
The hideout was unearthed by the joint troops of Rashtriya Rifles and police during search and cordon operation in Kot Budhan forest in Mahore area this morning, the officials said.
