In Cong’s Chintan Shivir, Jammu gets no representation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 16: Not even a single Congress leader from Jammu was invited to the much-hyped Chintan Shivir of the party held at Udaipur in Rajasthan.
The three-day Congress party Chintan Shivir, organized in Udaipur after the gap of nine years, was concluded on Sunday. The Chintan Shivir was attended by 430 leaders but not even a single leader from the Jammu region.
Reports said that the incumbent party president of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Ahmed Mir along with former Finance Minister Tariq Hamid Karra attended the three-day Shivir. Ghulam Nabi Azad, one of the stalwarts of the party was also present in the Shivir but he is part of the central leadership of the party not a representative from J&K.
Highly placed sources list of a couple of leaders from Jammu was also sent to the high command for their participation in their Chintan Shivir but the high command only allowed leaders from Kashmir to attend the event.

Srinagar, May 16: Even as the Jammu and Kashmir Government ordered a probe on the use of force against the Pandits in Badgam, former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday said Pandits are not stone throwers and there was no need to use force against them.
“Kashmiri pandits were protesting peacefully, they were not throwing stones, as was told…We have never seen a Kashmiri Pandit throwing stones”, Abdullah told media persons here Monday.

New Delhi, May 16: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed various aspects of the Amarnath Yatra, particularly BRO's assistance at difficult stretches at high altitudes.
"Discussed road infrastructure for Amarnath Yatra and BRO's assistance at difficult stretches in challenging terrain at high altitudes which will greatly ease the trek to the holy cave," LG Sinha wrote on Twitter.

Srinagar, May 16: Security forces have busted a module of Laskhar-e-Toiba in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir by arresting three militants and their four associates, police said on Monday.
Those arrested included an active Pakistani trained militants, two "hybrid" militants and four militant associates including a lady.
The arrests have been made days after three militants including two Pakistani were killed in two gunfights in the district.

Jammu, May 16: Police are awaiting a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report to know whether the fire in a passenger bus, carrying mostly devotees from Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, was caused due to an explosion or not, officials said on Monday.
Four people were killed and 24 others injured when the bus caught fire near Nomai shortly after leaving for Jammu from the Katra base camp of the shrine in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
