Suspense ends: BJP officially campaigns for Apni Party candidate on Anantnag-Rajouri seat | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 18: The BJP has officially announced its support for Zafar Iqbal Manhas from the Apni Party in the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat. BJP leaders have started an aggressive campaign for Manhas, aiming to challenge PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, who is also contesting for the seat.
The announcement ended all speculation when the BJP and the Apni Party held a joint rally in the Baflaiz area of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir. For the past ten days, BJP leaders have been holding small rallies in Poonch and Rajouri.
This joint rally marked the first time BJP leaders publicly shared the stage with the Apni Party, formally backing Manhas.
Top BJP leaders, including National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina, and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, have launched an intense campaign in the Poonch and Rajouri districts to gather support for Manhas.

JAMMU, May 18: Authorities in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, which lies close to the Line of Control (LoC), have prepared a contingency plan to shift polling officials and voters in the event cross-border firing on the polling day.

Jammu, May 18: Two youths drowned in river Tawi last evening in Manwal area of Jammu district even as the search operation is underway to trace the bodies, officials said on Saturday.
An official said that two youth identified as Avikash Thakur (23), son of Ranjeet Singh and Rajinder Singh (19), son of Jugal Singh—both residents of Kishenpur Manwal drowned in the river Tawi last evening around 7 pm.
He said that they were taking bath in the river, which was evident as their cloths were found on banks of it.

Srinagar, May 18: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Saturday predicted that the weather in Jammu and Kashmir will generally remain dry with "no significant activity till May 27".
"Overall there is no significant weather activity till May 27," the MeT office said.
However, the hot and dry spell was more likely to prevail over plains of Jammu division during the period, it said.
There is a possibility of thundershower activity at isolated places on Saturday while light rain and thunder at scattered places can occur towards early Sunday morning.
