Jamaat leader, brothers of terrorists repose faith in democracy | Urge all misguided youth to shun path of violence, join mainstream | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 20: Family members of terrorists have made an appeal for peace and democratic participation in Kashmir.
Rouf Lone, brother of the dreaded Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist Umar Lone, and Dawood, brother of top LeT terrorist Bilal Ahmed, both emphasized the importance of youth involvement in the electoral process.
Rouf Lone urged all misguided youth to shun the path of violence and join the mainstream. He expressed faith in the democratic system and encouraged young people to cast their votes for the development of their respective areas. Similarly, Dawood, after casting his vote in Sopore, called upon people to exercise their right to franchise for better development.
Dawood’s two other brothers are currently in jail for terrorist-related activities, and he appealed to the government for their release. Rouf Lone, raising his ink-marked finger, also urged his brother Umar to surrender in the interest of peace.
Umar’s mother had previously made a similar appeal.

Jammu, May 20: Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency in North Kashmir broke a 40 year record of highest turnout on Monday by recording more than 59 percent voting in the fifth phase of ongoing parliamentary elections.
The overall polling percentage of 59 % is higher than the 58.84 percent turnout the constituency witnessed in 1984. Baramulla recorded a turnout of 34.89% in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
The polling was held smoothly in 18 assembly segments spread over the four districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, and Budgam.

Jammu, May 20: In a bizarre incident, police on Monday detained five youth from Kashmir with fake US dollar currency notes in Sidhra area here in the city outskirts.
Police sources said that five youth were taken into custody when they were fraudulently luring people to purchase the fake USD currency notes at cheap price.
All of them are residents of Kashmir, police sources added.
They said that the five bundles of fake US dollars have also been recovered from their possession.

SRINAGAR, May 20: While generally dry weather has been forecast, night temperature recorded decrease at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 12.4°C against 13.8°C on the previous night and it was 0.7°C above normal for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year. JAMMU, May 20: A fire broke out in the forest belt of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday, prompting the authorities and local volunteers to swing into action, officials said.
